Strength you’ll use every day.
Australia’s movement guidelines recommend muscle-strengthening activity on two or more days a week. Not for the mirror. For the lifting, pulling, twisting, climbing and carrying your life asks of you, and for feeling capable for decades to come. Pilates on its own builds control. Add load, and that control becomes strength.
Two disciplines. One class.

Pilates, done well
Precision, posture and a strong centre. Low impact and kind on your joints. The foundation everything else is built on.

Load, not layers
Functional Strength Reformer keeps the movements simple, squats, lunges, hinges, presses, pulls and rotation, and builds the challenge with dumbbells and heavier springs. Timed working sets give you time to settle in, refine your technique and work with purpose.
Everything about Reformer Pilates
Where strength meets the heat
Hot Functional Strength takes heavier weights, more reps and supersets to the mat in a 30–35°C infrared room. Expect to work hard and sweat harder.
Everything about Hot Mat PilatesThe week that builds you.
Good to know
Is Pilates strength training?
It can be. Traditional Pilates builds control, posture and core strength using your own body weight. Strength comes from load, so at Love Athletica we add dumbbells, springs and props to every Reformer and Hot Mat class. That makes it Pilates and strength training in one session.
Is Functional Strength harder than Athletic Reformer?
Not harder, just a different kind of challenge. Functional Strength feels heavier, with simpler, controlled movements, more load and fewer repetitions. Athletic Reformer challenges you through flowing sequences, balance, coordination and endurance. Both will leave you stronger.
Do I need to have used weights before?
No. Every class has options for every level. Your instructor shows you how to set up, what weight to start with and how to move well.
How often should I train?
Australia’s movement guidelines recommend muscle-strengthening activity on two or more days a week. At LA we suggest making about half your classes strength-focused. If you train with us four times a week, that’s two Functional Strength classes, with the rest in the styles you love.
Which class should I start with?
Any of them. Every class is open to all levels, and your instructor will give you options to suit. If strength is your focus, book Functional Strength Reformer or Hot Functional Strength.
