Reformer vs Mat Pilates
Same method. Different load. Both make you stronger.
Reformer Pilates uses springs and a moving carriage to load and support every move. Mat Pilates uses your own body weight to build strength from the core out, and at LA it happens in the hot room. Here’s how they differ, and why most of our members do both.

Do both. Get stronger.
The reformer adds resistance and support, so you can load each muscle with precision. On the mat, your own body is the load, so your core and stabilisers lead every move. Train on both and you build strength, control and stamina that carry into everyday life.
Two ways to work. One method.

On the Reformer
Springs add resistance or support, so every move can be dialled up or down. Athletic Reformer builds flow, control and power. Functional Strength Reformer adds weights for strength you use every day.

On the Mat
No machine and nowhere to hide. Your bodyweight, small props and our hot room at 30 to 35°C do the work. Hot Pilates builds stamina and core strength. Hot Functional Strength adds weights.
